Play is a crucial factor in the overall well-being of children. But play in many communities, schools, and families has been pushed to the back burner. Fewer kids spend time every day at a park or playground, recess is disappearing from curriculums, and playgrounds are missing from community and neighborhood development plans. Through the Playmaker Network and the Playful City USA Campaign, the KaBOOM! National Campaign for Play seeks to make play a priority in communities across the nation. More...

application
Posted: 18 Jan 08 10:25 AM

I would like to know if there is any way that I could  get an application sent to my home. I know that you can fill it out on the computer but I would like to fill out the application and then attach the mayors signature and all the other papers that need to be attached. If anyone could help me then that would be really helpful. Please let me know!

Sammy12,

If you head to http://www.kaboom.org/Default.aspx?tabid=159  in the middle of the page is a link that says " Request a Playful City USA Application "

Once you fill out a short survey about your community, you will be able to download the application in WORD or as a PDF.  This will give you the flexibilty to type directly on it, or print it out at home and handwrite sections.  Plus having it electronically means you can email portions to members of your committee/task force, etc.

Be sure to keep posting your questions on the forums, that way you'll be helping countless other communities around the country who are working towards Playful City USA recognition in 2008!

Yes I tried that but I do not have a printer at this location and I'm not sure where to get one. I would just guess it would be easier to just have it sent and then fill it out and mail it back.

Because communities face issues like this all the time, does anyone have recommendations for Sammy12 and her Play Committee / Task Force on how to get a copy of the Playful City USA Application if she does not have a printer at her home or school?

Since applying for Playful CityUSA is a process that requires broad community participation and collaboration, what other resources and hints come in handy for communities that are just starting off?

(Sammy12: if no one on your committee is able to download and print a copy of the application, please send me a message through the website and I would be glad to mail you a copy).
