Play is a crucial factor in the overall well-being of children. But play in many communities, schools, and families has been pushed to the back burner. Fewer kids spend time every day at a park or playground, recess is disappearing from curriculums, and playgrounds are missing from community and neighborhood development plans. Through the Playmaker Network and the Playful City USA Campaign, the KaBOOM! National Campaign for Play seeks to make play a priority in communities across the nation. More...

Welcome!

This forum is the internet hub for the 31 communities that are our inaugural Playful CityUSA communities.  This is the premiere place to:

-Share best practices and updates

-Describe and advise how you are engaging people in your annual Play Day and Action Plan for Play

-Seek out coaching and feedback from a National audience, when you run into local challenges along the way

We are so proud of each community in our 31 Founding Cities.  Over the last few months, we have been attending numerous conferences and gatherings of mayors, parks & rec directors, and other municipal leaders.  They gather around to see what the commotion is (t-shirts, kazoos, joyful expressions in purple, etc.) and then jealously ask how they can be added to the esteemed list for 2008.  What a thrill!

Keep working hard on your Action Plans and Play Days, and use this forum as resource to help you on your way.

Play On!

The KaBOOM! National Campaign for Play
