"I also emphasize the importance of making sure the kids get enough unstructured playtime. Allow children to get bored and figure out their own fun. Rather than buying them the latest electronic gadgets or enrolling them in too many extracurricular programs, let the children play outside everyday; give them a ball and let them come up with their own games. Let them discover nature in their own backyards."

This is so true. I think alot of kids aren't into sports but theyd like to have time for unstrucutred play...but parents are afraid to let their kids go outside and have fun.

I can't believe I agree with a Pediatrician.  We now try to teach our kids imagination and most are lacking in common sense.  Before they had all the electronic gadgets, they learned imagination and common sense on their own with the unstructured play!
