Play is a crucial factor in the overall well-being of children. But play in many communities, schools, and families has been pushed to the back burner. Fewer kids spend time every day at a park or playground, recess is disappearing from curriculums, and playgrounds are missing from community and neighborhood development plans. Through the Playmaker Network and the Playful City USA Campaign, the KaBOOM! National Campaign for Play seeks to make play a priority in communities across the nation. More...

Help with Playspace Audit
Posted: 09 Apr 08 11:46 AM
We are completing our playspace audit now, but I had some questions about how that relates to the application. I know that we need to upload a minimum of 20 playspaces into the playspace finder, but what paper copies do we need to include in the application packet? Do I need a separate page for each playspace? And what do I need on there? In the application it just lists type of playspace, age of equipment, condition of equipment and safety of play area. Is there anything else that we need to include as part of the audit. I planed on including a spreadsheet of all 52 of our playspaces with that information. Will that suffice or do I need additional information? I am ready to get it in the mail and wanted to get this final piece completed. Thank you.

Dear Parkland,

Adding playspaces to the Playspace Finder is the key piece, and where we want to see the audit specifics.  As you outlined at the end of your msg, the spreadsheet outlining top-line info on the 52 playspaces is sufficient paper documentation.

Thanks for your question.

We really encourage all our communities to see how they can elicit volunteers to help upload every playspace in their community with complete descriptions and pictures!
