Burgess-Peterson Academy hosted it's 4th annual Worldwide Day of Play on September 27, 2008 in celebration of a Nickelodeon grant in 2004. As an official host site, the families that came out participate in Float'r Volleyball, Football obstacle course, basketball, jump rope, bean bag throw, scooters, bubbles and hula hoop. For a second year in a row, the hottest activity was Dance, Dance Revolution! Students were lined up to try and get the highest score, boys and girls alike.
Next year, I hope to incoporate a speed stacking station so that students can work on their dexterity and reaction time.
Since the building of our playground, recess has increased at my school 100 percent! Even the older children are given time to go out and play. Starting this week, we will have our Student Wellness Ambassador announcing the Jammin Minute for all students to do before the start of school. We are hoping to increase on-time arrival to school as well as healthy lifestyles for our students.
