U Play NO build.JPGOn Feb. 9 when they left school, there was nothing. But when Woodmere Elementary students returned to class Monday morning, there was a brand-new playground made to impress almost any child.

The entire play space was built Feb. 10 with the help of more than 400 volunteers.

"I was on cloud 59 and almost speechless," Principal Gretchen Williams said as she observed the construction Feb. 10.

It was my first playground build, it was amazing to see it come to life so qickly, and to see how much can be done when people work together.

I had the amazing privilege of taking 8 of our committed community volunteer to the conference in New Orleans, we found it to be very informative, exciting and just an all over awesome experience, the build day was out of this world seeing over 400 people working together, to accomplished the same goal, which was to bring play back to the children of Woodmere Elementary School. This was my second conference, the first being in San Francisco, if given the opportunity again I will do it in a heart beat. Keep up the good work all.

This was also my first playground build, what an awesome experience. The staff of Kaboom are truly amazing the way the coordinated the work teams and ensured that we did it right! Hauling the mulch was an experience that I and my muscles will never forget. I hope to do it again!!! - Loré Chambers (Salisbury, MD)

This was my most memorable build by far. As I was constructing planter boxes, three little girls ran up to me and gave me a huge hug shouting, "Thank you for building us a playground!" That brought happy tears to my eyes, and a smile to my heart....Thank you KaBOOM! for letting us participate in Operation Playground! -Shawna of Phoenix
