FAIRFIELD, IA - When the weather outside is frightful, one local group would like children to have someplace to play that's warm and delightful.

The Fairfield/Vedic City Moms Group has teamed with Beth Alonso, a local mother of two, to establish The Play Room, Fairfield's Indoor Playground.

Approximately $20,000 is needed to renovate an upstairs room of the Roosevelt Community Recreation Center, which the Fairfield Park and Recreation Department has offered for use. The money also will go toward floor padding and playground equipment.

• A specific goal of the project, in addition to having a great place for kids to play, is to create a place where parents can "network".
• Handmade cards, treats and gifts will be sold to raise money at the Fairfield Farmers' Market Saturdays through Christmas. Additional fund-raising activities will get under way in January.
