We received an email from a Home Depot Community Involvement Representative. As we applied for a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in the fall of 2006 but were unsuccessful, the possibility of another opportunity to secure a new play area for our community was very attractive. We immediately responded. Even though we did not have an answer yet, we had already begun discussing the possibility with potential volunteers within our community and received commitments from some of them immediately. Anyone who has had the chance to discuss the possibilities if we are chosen for a playground project is very excited about it. I myself am involved on the board of directors with a non-profit children's tackle football organization in our city and am very familiar with the enormity of this type of undertaking. I am pleased to see that community members are really hyped up about what we could do if we are chosen, as finding volunteers can sometimes be a painful process. I look forward to the experience and hope to share the story with others - we can accomplish so much if we work together! Isn't that the way the entire world should be?
