| More About Me |
| My husband and I have lived in the Lehigh Valley, PA area for nearly six years. We chose this area because of its green space, small-town feeling and the school system.
Within the past two years housing developments, life-style malls as well as betting tracks have been closing in around us. Crime has been on the rise, children are riding their skateboards in the streets (because they are prohibited from riding at the borough park), and there is a new school being plotted to meet the needs of the new families moving into the district which is driving up the local school taxes.
It seems that many green spaces are being sought by the greedy developers and less land is being preserved for the future of our children. At one point last summer, a majority of the residents of Nazareth rallied againt the town building a new police station on the grounds of a park and ball diamond that dates back to the 1800's. The residents perserved and the police station is being housed in an ezixting building elsewhere.
As a concerned parent of two children, I would like to become educated on how to properly advocate for the rights of this generation as well as my chidren's. I want to have a louder voice in what goes on in my community and learn what I can do to make a difference in my local community, my state, my country and my world! |
