There's one other thing you can do. Have you heard of a web site called VolunteerMatch?

It's a giant search engine that searches for volunteering opportunities based on your zip code and what you are interested in. It's been around for years and has lots of users. It's free for any nonprofit organization to sign up and then put your build in. You might pull in some more folks that way.
