I just had a bowling fundriaser at a local bowling alley and I had raised the amount of $2.146! I had got tweleve lane sponsors and some people gave me $100 for a lane but most gave me $25. It is a great idea if you have a lot of family and friends and also if you have a local bowling alley that is....

I am doing research in order to improve the design of playgrounds for children with autism.  If you are a parent raising a child with autism, I would love to know what your fantasy playground would look like.  Make your comments here or go and complete a survey at

How did your build day go?

Everything was wonderful on our build day, except that the mulch truck didnt show up. People didnt seem to mind. Everybody had a great time anyway. The volunteers loved the Ben&Jerry's ice cream!

Ha! Whenever I'm at the build, I spend most of my time at the mulch pile. A day where there was no mulch to move and lots of Ben & Jerry's ice cream to eat sounds like a perfect day to me!

Did you ever get your surfacing?

Our Build Day started early and lasted a full week. We were totally overwhelmed by the daunting task ahead of us and at the response of the community- people and businesses stepped to volunteer their time & services. The equipment came on Monday; when it arrived we had it stored at the local seed warehouse-they gave up space willingly. Our lead volunteer spent a night and two days with the CD_ROM & began to organize the stacked pieces of metal & boxes of hardware into pallets of components for each ramp & obstacle. The County Parks Dept. sent three guys to help us assemble the largest obstacle Friday, before Build Day. They taught us how to assemble all like structures from the ground up to skinning them. Only 15 people committed to help on Saturday, Build Day, but in the end, over 40 people volunteered over 400 man-hours to complete the assembly of the skate equipment. More than a dozen people stood in the rain for 3 hours helping- it did clear up that afternoon! We finally finished on Monday evening at 6 PM. We had a great party on Go Skateboarding Day, Thursday 6/21/07!

Yes, it came the next day and we had to do it with 5 or 6 people so it took all day. I don't think that it was the quality of what I was supposed to get. The original shipment was from Mississippi, but their grinder broke and they sent me some very lightweight, light colored mulch from Texas.
