Can anyone tell me how the depth of compressed wood mulch is measured?  I have checked in the ASTM and I know how thick it should be.  Do we just dig a bunch of holes and use a ruler?  Tim ....

Pittsburgh Pawsome Playground
Posted: 28 Jun 07 9:09 PM Modified By LionsPride07 on 6/28/2007 10:18:19 PM)

On behalf of Lincoln Elemtnary, I would love to thank our fantastic volunteers, KaBOOM!, Build-A-Bear and everyone who made our playground possible. We had such a wonderful time having fun and workin hard! Our side projects consisted of an outdoor classroom, a beutiful mural, painting stepping stones, picnic tables, and a map of the United States among other things. Build-A-Bear Workshop let the children make their own bears! They had such a wonderful times watching their playground being built right in front of their excited eyes. Everyone did such an AWESOME job and we had such a terrific turn out. Thank you for making our dream of building a safe place for our little one's to play come true. We are touched and exicted that everything worked out and that you helped us make it possible. The heart ceremony was touching and we will always remember all the hearts that went into our Build Day at Lincoln. Please stop by and visit our website soon to see the finished product http://projects.kaboom.org/lincolnlionsplayground.

Love,

Jen, the LETA Playground Committee, PTO, Staff and Students of Lincoln

Your build day was awesome. Everything was so well organied.  The "stretches" got us pumped and the whole group was great to work with. I hope we can create such a fun atmosphere and be as efficient.  You have set the bar high!!!

Jen,

It was great to work with you in Pittsburgh!  I am really impressed with the work that you all did on that website. Do you think that you could start a thread, and maybe talk a bit about some tips and tricks for building a website on our webspace?  Thanks! - Nate

High five to you!  You had such an organized and successful build day.  I can only imagine how much work went into planning the day.  And your website really pulls it all together, it looks amazing!  It was such an honor to be apart of the day.

Hey Everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for a while. Yes, Nate I would be more than happy to start a thread on the website. I won't lie, the website set up is a little difficult but Nicole helped me work through it at the New Orleans U Play Conference. I'll post it under the Website Help Forum.

Thank you so much for all your help. We are honored to have such fine individuals work with us at Lincoln's build. The playground is awesome!!! I'm so happy everyone enjoyed the pictures. If you have any questions or anything, feel free to post me. Thank you again for all your compliments and energy!

Love,
Jen

Congrats on your project!  I remember following your project since New Orleans-UPlay.  You all did it and followed through to the end.  We finished our build project yesterday and the rubber surface gets put in next wk.  Through all the challenges it is a great feeling to see the final project and know that you did a great thing for children!
