Can anyone tell me how the depth of compressed wood mulch is measured?  I have checked in the ASTM and I know how thick it should be.  Do we just dig a bunch of holes and use a ruler?  Tim ....

Securing the playground
Posted: 10 Sep 07 3:59 PM

Our park and playground is located in an inner-city where the police force has been cut and we wouldn't dare ask the boy scouts to camp out. For security, we are planning to put motion sensors on our pavilion and are hoping that the community would be the "eyes and ears" for protecting the playground. Does anyone have any other ideas for security during the build as well as long-term (budget-friendly of course)?

Re: Securing the playground

I just posted a really sad article to the web site about an playground that was stolen just before the build day:

OK. Maybe I'm just naive, but is there really a market for "second hand" (*wink, wink*) playground equipment? Even if it was stolen for the metal (as the article suggests), wouldn't the bright primary colors be a dead giveaway?

Does this really happen or is this poor soul in California the "one in a million"?
