Pay It Forward Day -- A great way to involve the kids in your build
Posted: 17 Oct 07 2:00 PM

Whenever KaBOOM! leads a build, the project managers send out build summaries that talk about how the build went. I spotted an interesting idea in football field refurbishment in St. Louis.

One of the coolest parts of the day was that NorthwestHigh School deemed Build Day “Pay it Forward Day.”  They watched the movie on Monday, so on Tuesday they were ready to put it in action.  Some of the students made “Thank You” packs for the volunteers with cards and candy, some volunteered at a local library, and some even washed the volunteers’ cars! What a great way to show the volunteers that they appreciate them!

So they are giving the kids something to do that keeps them off your construction site (keeping your insurance people happier), tying it to an unselfish, altruistic attitude, AND giving a really nice added bonus to your tired volunteers. I don't care who you are, it's always nice to come back to a clean car. --Amy
