no response..

It's me again..

well the last update good news about me having a meeting with the mayor. Well that was back in early december and now its early february. The mayor dosn't have much participation with me and he is not very helping. I know that he might be busy but he will not respond.. He told me he would put me on a committee and that someone would call me and they never did.. =( I don't want to give up beacuse i know that this is an excellent idea. I did so much research and put so much into this that I just can't give up. I have found other places and contacted them about building it at those places and I got no response also.. =( I need some suggestions.. I'm not going to give up just beacuse im only 16. I know that I can do this and I know that this is an excellent idea. If anyone has any suggestions at all please send me something.. =(

Oh, and the whole people joining my committee I have people that would be willing but they have nothing to do if I don't have anything to do. I just need a place to build it. Am I going in the right direction. Could I start fundraisng now or should I wait until I have a place to build it?

Thank You

Sammy

I think it’s worth trying again with the mayor. Yes, all politicians are busy, but they’re accountable to their constituents (like you!). Set up another meeting, and this time bring a group of like-minded people with you. Include someone who is in need of that type of playground, preferably from that neighborhood. Go armed with as much information as possible – including where the playspace could go, how many children it would serve, and even a petition from people in the neighborhood asking for the playground to be built. You can also find some great statistics on the importance of play on the KaBOOM! website: http://www.kaboom.org/GettingStarted/WhyPlayMatters/tabid/68/Default.aspx .

If the mayor is still unresponsive, ask someone on the City Council if you can be on the agenda for their next meeting, and go with the same group and the same information. Make your case to them and see if they bite.

Persistence pays off. Good luck!
