Hi everyone, I'm currently a project manager for KaBOOM! but I used to teach elementary school.  I find myself often referencing the trend of decreased recess time in our public schools today.  So, I got curious and wanted to ask what you all see in your....

Celebrate National Volunteer Week by Playing!
Posted: 28 Apr 08 6:02 PM Modified By alynsen on 4/29/2008 9:49:26 AM)

Dear Playmakers!

April 27 through May 3 , 2008 is National Volunteer Week! As a Playmaker this is a perfectly playful opportunity to promote play in your neighborhood. Your children and community will be so thankful and benefit from your efforts. Here are a couple of ways for you to take action:

  • Upload a playspace near you in our fabulous Playspace Finder. This is a national database of playspaces and is great way to help others in your community know where your playful places are!

  • Organize a clean-up at your local playspace. A great way to ensure that your playspaces are a safe and healthy environment for your kids.

  • Take your family friend’s and/or neighborhood kids for some supervised play time at your local playspace! Take a look at these playful activity ideas.

We would love to hear what you did to promote play during National Volunteer Week. Post on the KaBOOM! Forum or e-mail Brooke Bennett at bbennett@kaboom.org.
