idea for equipment manufacturers
Posted: 05 Sep 07 8:11 AM
I've had an idea floating around in my head that a play equipment manufacturer ought to build.  It is a kid powered lift/elevator that would raise a platform up to a deck when a wheel was turned by a group of kids.  It would need counterbalancing to make it easy to operate and hydraulic dampeners so it could avoid sudden up or down movements.  Basically a manually operated dumb waiter.  I think it would be great for promoting interaction with kids in wheel chairs, and would be fun for other kids as well.  Anybody know a play equipment designer?

What a great idea!  It's fun, interactive, and useful for children of all abilities.  I sent your message to some contacts at Landscape Structures, and they replied right away. Here's an excerpt:

"We will consider this idea as we are developing ideas for accessibility. Timing is good as this is a product priority for us."

So thanks for being so creative, and hopefully we'll see this piece of equipment at playgrounds soon.
