I just had a bowling fundriaser at a local bowling alley and I had raised the amount of $2.146! I had got tweleve lane sponsors and some people gave me $100 for a lane but most gave me $25. It is a great idea if you have a lot of family and friends and also if you have a local bowling alley that is....

I am doing research in order to improve the design of playgrounds for children with autism.  If you are a parent raising a child with autism, I would love to know what your fantasy playground would look like.  Make your comments here or go and complete a survey at

Our group in Whitehall, NY is having a golf tournament this weekend and expecting to make a few grand hoping that the rain holds off...we had a ton of local businesses donate gift certificates so we are doing a raffel for all those prizes.  It should be a good time, I will post an update on how things went on Monday.

Wow, this sounds awesome - sounds like a big-time fundraiser!  I'm looking forward to your report back aftter it happens.  When you do that, can you let us all know exactly what kind of arrangements there were on the fundraising end?   Do people pay an entry fee, and then that goes to your project?  What about the golf course - are they donating anything?  Is this a tournament of some kind that happens anyway, or did you arrange it specifically to support this project?  Looking forward to hearing how it went!

Our golf tournament went off without a hitch; we had good weather and a good time.  We raised $1700.00 for our project.  We had a ton of prizes donated by local businesses and sponsors for some of the holes, none of the prizes were paid for out of our own pockets which made things an even bigger success.  We had 12 teams and they paid $50 per person, $27 of it went back to the golf course and we got the rest.  We even did raffles for some other prizes, and a 50/50 to raise even more money.

That's fantastic! What a perfect model for other communities to follow. Could you talk a little bit about the process of setting something like this up? Did you have a connection within the club already? Do you think it would be easy to approach a golf club if you didn't have any connection?

There was actually a member of our group who had arranged this type of event before.  He and another fellow from the group took full responsibility and the rest of us just filled in the gaps with providing what help they needed.   He actually went to a local golf course in the town where the playspace is being built so we kept it all local and they worked out an agreement.  We provided the golfers with prizes, food, water.  Like I said we had alot of support from local businesses with donations of gift certificates and such, we only paid for the food out of our own pockets.  Getting all the donations of prizes or food you can will help a great deal.
