I signed up for an email newsletter from an interesting web site called Peaceful Playgrounds. Among other things, they apparently help schools write grants. Here's the link to their grants page:

Here's what's on the page right now. Those of you who are actively looking for grants right now will know better if these are.. you know.. "hot" leads or just sort of "eh" leads.
California Block Grant Funds for Physical Education. Grant Money is available to all California Schools for our Physical Education Programs. Millions of dollars will be distributed directly to public school sites to fund our Fundamental Movement PE Program and We Count! Student Walking Program.
Physical Education for Progress (PEP) Grant. Some of the most sought after grants available to physical educators are the Department of Education Federal PEP Grants. This program provides grants to initiate, expand, and improve physical education programs for K-12 students in order to help them make progress toward meeting state standards for physical education. PEP grants have a maximum $500,000 per year funding ceiling or a 1.5M cap for three years. (Peaceful Playground would especially like to help you with this. I have no idea if their help is that good. Has anyone worked with them?)
Champions for Healthy Kids. This is a grant program introduced five years ago to encourage kids to eat healthy and stay active, is now accepting grant applications for 2008. The program is open to schools and community groups with innovative programs aimed at improving youth nutrition and fitness. The entry deadline is Jan. 15, 2008. The application can be found at: http://www.generalmills.com/corporate/commitment/champions.aspx. The program is a partnership of the General Mills (NYSE: GIS) Foundation, the American Dietetic Association Foundation (ADAF) and the President's Council on Physical Fitness that each year provides grants of $10,000 each to 50 nonprofit organizations.
