Art in the Park
Posted: 24 Apr 08 8:56 AM

In trying to enlighten the powers that be, we decided to give the community an opportunity to show us what events or activities they would like to see. We distributed fliers to the local schools, made them available on the city website and utilize the local media for public service announcements informing the public of the contest.

We received 22 entries from children throughout the city plus a few good ideas from adults. At present, we have all the entries available for viewing and voting on the city website. Once we narrow it down to two winners, we will have local artists assist in converting these designs into murals in our parks.

We felt that by creating an award that not only beautifies our parks, but also gives the artist a feeling of accomplishment and ownership, would also help to promote community pride.
