Kate Becker - Vice President of Program Management
Proud of her Ohio roots, Kate has lived in the District of Columbia since 1994. Her first playground memory is of her sister pushing her higher and higher in a tot swing, and then her sister running underneath the swing, leaving Kate tickled into a fit of giggles. As Vice President of Program Management, Kate delights in seeing the work that the incredible project managers do, pushing communities to go higher and higher so kids around the country can be tickled into fits of giggles. Kate's involvement with KaBOOM! is the perfect culmination of a background working with children and youth and promoting civic engagement and community development through work as a Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa, a counselor with emotionally disturbed children, and the founding Regional Director for an AmeriCorps*NCCC Campus. From early experiences with KaBOOM! prior to working here, Kate was consistently impressed with the organization and the immediate and long-term impacts that KaBOOM! has in communities, and was thrilled to become a Boomer in 2002.
