The way that people have experienced KaBOOM!, both emotionally and rationally, has established our reputation in the world. This reputation makes up the essence of who we are and what we stand for — what most organizations would refer to as their brand. We call it the KaBOOM! experience.

Today our brand is about laughter, teamwork, strong and healthy communities, enthusiasm, purple and orange, innovation, commitment to service, and of course, play! The KaBOOM! experience is nostalgic, it's personal, it's tangible, it's all things possible. These are the essential building blocks of our brand that will help KaBOOM! continue to inspire, reward and transform communities around the country.

What Truly Distinguishes a Boomer?

We Are Role Models. Both inside the office and out. Our walls are purple, the doors are orange and the columns are yellow. Our offices are covered with toys, bright colors, games, and the walls are covered with pictures and memories of our friends from around the country who have transformed their communities through play. Our staff biographies even include pictures of us as kids! We are passionate about our work, and truly believe that play does matter. Many Boomers travel extensively throughout the year, which is both exhilarating and exhausting work. We handle this pressure by reminding each other of our mission, by having fun while we work, and by striving to help each other maintain a healthy work/life balance. Boomers take our work seriously, but not ourselves!

We are always ready to add fuel to a spark of interest in our work. We are ambassadors of hope, opportunity and possibility. Our purple KaBOOM! gear and bright eye-catching burst logo pops out wherever we go — this is by design! Boomers are also brand ambassadors and monitor the use of our logo and brand icons by our Community Partners, vendors, and the general public. Boomers are energetic, optimistic and enthusiastic in everything we do, not just because we love our jobs or even just because we believe in great customer service, but because as ambassadors we represent play and possibility.

We Are Playmakers. Boomers have contagious energy and spirit. We are always ready to reach out and engage in conversations about play and KaBOOM!. We can recite our vision, mission and the KaBOOM!erang Principle at any moment and have access to materials and information that can be immediately forwarded to individuals interested in taking action for play.

We Are Storytellers. Every build we lead gets written up and shared across the entire organization. Builds we've inspired are shared on staff calls. Each playspace project really is made up of hundreds of stories. Within these stories are endless nuggets of organizing insight, sparks of inspiration, and vital opportunities to get better at what we do.

We Are Innovators. Because we strive to be great storytellers, we listen and look carefully at how things are done around us. Boomers understand that the reason we have accomplished what we have to date is because we continue to capture and share the enthusiasm and ideas of those with whom we partner. We constantly test new ways of reaching individuals, of engaging volunteers, of learning from our mistakes. We seek feedback as part of every project, every meeting, and at the end of every phone call. We research and track industry and sector competition for best practices, and we constantly seek to engage others in and outside of our sector to get better at what we do.
